Hello Wefunder investors & lurkers! :)I get asked this question regularly: "Why is anonymity such an important part of the process?" and I thought this would be a great place to answer that.I'll start with the short, personal answer and then get more detailed. My personal mission, through CarLocity, is to create a dealership-based car buying experience where my 3 little daughters never understand why "mommy had to take grandpa with her" to buy a car. Today, it's an open secret. Now to dive a bit deeper into the data and specifics:First - To remove the likelihood of discrimination of all kinds from the pricing process. As highlighted in our "pitch," the National Fair Housing Authority conducted a study in 2018 showing that over 62% of better-qualified non-white Buyers were given worse pricing and options than their lesser-qualified white counterparts. 75% of non-white buyers received fewer/worse financing options as well. Anonymity removes this possibility in step 1 of the shopping process - they won't even know a buyer's name or be able to GUESS at gender, age, race, socio-economic status, or sexual orientation. Additionally, it's commonplace for women, specifically, to be condescended to, taken advantage of, or otherwise mistreated in the initial pricing phase. Nearly every female Buyer we interviewed during our discovery process talked about having to take a male relative, friend, coworker etc with them to the dealer in order to ensure they received decent treatment and better pricing.Next - one of CarLocity's key value propositions is a hassle and harassment-free experience for the customer. The typical car buyer who submits their information through a car shopping website has their contact information sold to many dealers in their area instantaneously, resulting in their phone/email/texts "blowing up." Often, these communications are from dealers who do not even have the requested vehicle, and the calls/emails/texts often do not stop for up to 6 months after their information is sold. I was recently contacted by a car Buyer from Florida, where CarLocity does not currently operate. He found us via a Google search for the phrase "buy a new car anonymously." When I asked him what led him to insert the word "anonymously," he stated:Not my words. This is an example of the many potential Buyers out there searching for our solution. We just need capital to refine then expand to help people like Steve.Join us in our mission and invest in an experienced, Veteran Founder today. If you have questions or need further information, contact me directly at peter@carlocity.com
