With zero emissions, energy flows silently from a compact system that fits on a nightstand—just insert one of our proprietary, mailable cartridges and add water. We're building a world where:1 billion people without reliable power gain immediate access—no grid infrastructure requiredMedical devices, refrigerators, and essential electronics stay running when the grid failsOutdoor adventures aren't limited by weather conditions or noise restrictionsPower generation is free from harmful carbon emissionsAfter 10,000+ hours of rigorous real-world testing across diverse conditions, independent engineering firms have verified our technology delivers exactly as promised. This proven breakthrough innovation is secured by four pending patents expected to be granted before our market launch. The lights flicker. Then go dark. Your phone’s at 23%. The fridge hums to a stop. Suddenly, you’re cut off—from power, from life-sustaining equipment, and from the world. For millions of Americans, this isn’t a rare scenario. It’s a growing reality that can turn deadly. Our aging grid is struggling to keep up with rising energy demands from electric vehicles and data centers. Meanwhile, 70% of our power transmission lines have exceeded their 50-year lifespan. The result? Outages now last nearly three times longer than they did in 2017. And the problem is only getting worse. For 127 million Americans in apartments, condos, or with physical limitations, current backup power solutions force impossible compromises. Gas generators are powerful, but release toxic fumes that make them deadly indoors. Battery stations are quiet and compact, but can’t last through the night. And solar generators are useless at night and during storms—exactly when you need them. When the power goes out, millions of Americans are unable to keep medical devices running, food fresh, homes safe, or small businesses operating. At Emission Free Generators, we've created a revolutionary portable generator that solves all these problems at once. We’ve accomplished this by shrinking the technology down to a form factor that can fit on a nightstand. What makes it so revolutionary? It’s incredibly simple to use.The secret is our proprietary cartridge system. Each $6.45 cartridge contains a specialized powder that creates hydrogen on demand. It works with any water source—tap water, rainwater, greywater, seawater, even pond water—to power devices for hours. What can you power with a single $6.45 cartridge? More than you think. We've designed the entire experience around convenience and peace of mind.Behind this experience and convenience is a powerful ‘razor-blade’ business model. It works just like it sounds: sell the razor (in our case, the generator) and drive recurring revenue with the blades (our cartridges). Each customer becomes a long-term recurring revenue source, fueling sustainable growth with every cartridge purchase. Add this all up and you have a remarkably versatile solution that can’t be beat by traditional backup power solutions. While industry giants poured billions into massive hydrogen facilities, Mark Collins (28 patents, 3 exits) and his son Chase Collins started in their lab with a wild idea. What if electricity could be created on demand from hydrogen using a cartridge the size of an envelope? After hundreds of test hours and dozens of iterations, they had a working prototype that could power essential devices safely indoors.Success meant building a team that could match their ambition. They recruited Nestlé's former Global Head of Marketing and Toyota's financial strategist to transform their innovation into a market-ready revolution. The $7.8B generator market only serves a fraction of those who need power. Gas generators don't work for apartment dwellers or those with physical limitations. Meanwhile, outdoor enthusiasts struggle with noisy, toxic machines that ruin the experience they're seeking.EFG isn't just entering the existing market—we're creating an entirely new category for the millions left behind.Traditional power solutions kill the outdoor experience America craves—loud, smelly generators, fuel hauling, and weather dependencies ruin the adventure. That's a massive problem for a $1.2T outdoor recreation market growing 36% since 2012.EFG unleashes true freedom in nature. Our silent, emission-free generators power your devices from Yellowstone to the Florida Keys. No noise, no fumes, just adventure on your terms.California recently passed a ban on gas-powered generators, which takes effect in 2028.The problem is California is the US blackout capital, with nearly 1 in 4 blackouts happening in the Golden State. It’s also an RV capital, with over 1.1M RV owners, many of whom rely on generator power.Residents there need a clean energy generator solution that works no matter the weather conditions. That’s exactly why we’re launching in California first. The generator ban transforms these separate issues into an immediate $200M+ market opportunity just waiting to be captured. But this initial launch isn't just our first market—it's our proving ground for coast-to-coast growth. We've built EFG from the ground up—validating our technology with the US Army, securing partnerships with industry leaders like SoCal Gas, and creating a product that's been tested for over 10,000 hours. Now we're laser-focused on two strategic goals:Completing our manufacturing-ready design and UL certificationLaunching our first production run in Q1 2026As we scale production, California's 2028 ban on fossil fuel generators creates a regulatory tailwind just as we hit our stride. This gives us a crucial 2-year window to establish a foothold and dominate the market. Our vision extends far beyond your standard backup generator. Our roadmap includes EV range extenders that could add precious drive time in emergencies, specialized versions for marine applications, and eventually licensing opportunities that could double our revenue potential. We're raising on Wefunder because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be part of the energy revolution. From the apartment dweller keeping their medical devices running during blackouts to the outdoor enthusiast seeking adventure without limitations—our technology makes a difference in real lives. With your investment, we can complete our journey and begin delivering clean, reliable power to the millions who need it most. Together, let’s build a world where access to electricity is never limited by location, weather, or living situation.","location":"Claymont, DE","website":"https://www.emissionfreegenerators.com/","total_amount_raised":947338,"total_investors":488,"is_funded":false,"is_active":true,"quality_score":3,"related_urls":["https://wefunder.com/emissionfreegenerators","https://www.emissionfreegenerators.com/"]},"media":{"share_image_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/custom_card_photo/108670/xxl_Emission_Free_Generators__explore_card_photo_1746713924319.jpg","logo_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/logo/108670/large_avatar.jpg","header_media_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/header_media_photo/108670/standard_avatar.jpg","cover_photo_url":"https://uploads.wefunder.com/uploads/company/custom_card_photo/108670/large_Emission_Free_Generators__explore_card_photo_1746713924319.jpg"},"links":{"company_url":"https://www.emissionfreegenerators.com/","linkedin_url":"https://linkedin.com/company/emission-free-generators/"},"highlights":[],"quick_facts":[{"index":1,"claim_id":"claim-fact-1","value":"Leadership team with 28 patents, 3 exits, and executive talent from Nestlé and Toyota."},{"index":2,"claim_id":"claim-fact-2","value":"Solving a critical need for 127 million Americans who can't use traditional generators."},{"index":3,"claim_id":"claim-fact-3","value":"NASA recognized our hydrogen innovation, leading to prototype development with the US Army."},{"index":4,"claim_id":"claim-fact-4","value":"Validated through 10,000+ hours of real-world testing."},{"index":5,"claim_id":"claim-fact-5","value":"Dual revenue model with 49% margins on hardware, 73% on refill cartridges."},{"index":6,"claim_id":"claim-fact-6","value":"A single $6.45 cartridge powers medical devices for 18+ hours during emergencies."},{"index":7,"claim_id":"claim-fact-7","value":"$755,000 raised from Corp. Your initial portable unit seems to address a clear need for accessible, emission-free power. Could you elaborate on whether your core EFG technology is inherently scalable for larger applications, such as whole-house backup, and if so, how you would envision EFG competing against established solar or fossil fuel systems in that broader context? Regarding your intellectual property, can you speak to the specific protections in place, or being pursued, for your unique process of generating hydrogen from water using the proprietary cartridges? While your market research and testing are encouraging, do you currently have any pre-orders or other firm commercial commitments as you head towards your 2026 launch? Finally, considering the evolving regulatory landscape, how are you planning to strategically leverage supportive measures, like the California ban, to drive initial market penetration and growth? The EFG technology in its current form is scalable comfortably to 15kW, which is more than sufficient for a whole house. At the current time and into 2027 our market segment is \u0026lt;3.5kW, with this output we can meet the demands of most power requirements, including EV charging/range extender. Our aim is to be portable with the market entry unit being 1.6kW. We have 4 patent protection applications, in the form of continuations, close to being granted, which cover fuel chemistry, machinery, delivery methods, cartridge and safety. Currently we have a commercial commitment with a major energy supplier who is expected to be our first customer of multiple units, still in discussion. As you noted, taking advantage of regulatory changes, such as California’s climate change initiatives banning the sale of fossil fuel-powered portable generators by 2028, are an important development in our initial market. While we are not relying solely on regulatory changes to drive growth, such policies will support and accelerate our market expansion. Being aware of regulatory winds and shifts is important to us. A number of indicators strongly suggest that consumers still have an interest and appetite for cleantech products now and into the future. The EFG isn't just about being emission free, it's about offering a better product, a continuous power source as well as being an entirely different option. We are working to redefine the rules. The main reason for hydrogen not getting to market is due to transportation, it normally comes in 100lb cylinders with perhaps 1/4 kg of hydrogen. We solved that by transporting it as a powder at a faction of size and weight. Your questions 1. $2,150 retail for the unit and $6.45 per cartridge. A discount is available for multiple cartridge purchase. The cartridges have a very long shelf life. 2. We have a small battery in the EFG which powers the software and is recharged when the EFG is creating electricity. 3. Hydrogen is only produced according to the output demand, e.g. you plug in a refrigerator which requires 1kW, our software identifies the 1kW and converts into hydrogen production/electrical conversion, every few seconds. So we only create a tiny amount of hydrogen, which is immediately consumed in making electricity, every few seconds. There is no storage, no minor leaks/seepage and no left over hydrogen, its all put to good use. 4. We only introduce a tiny amount of water which creates the hydrogen, it is absorbed by the hydrogen to become moisture rich, the hydrogen condenses in a separate pipe which drops the water into a trap to be recycled in the unit. No water wastage or left over fluid. Hope this clarifies for you.","author_name":"Mark Collins","votes":3,"created_at":"2025-05-08T16:59:12Z"}]},{"id":333918,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:333918","question":"This is a very interesting product. We're not in a position to share specs on that yet, but larger power solutions are very much part of where this is headed. One of the benefits of the ZenH2 is that it will charge battery packs. Thanks for the great questions. We’re finalizing warranty and support policies now, but our goal is to offer a straightforward customer-friendly warranty that reflects confidence in the product’s reliability, typically 12 months. We also intend to make any warranty replacement process as simple and low-friction as possible for customers. Production and assembly is USA based, with East and West Coast contract manufacturers. Components are mainly sourced in the US although some parts may have to come from overseas suppliers, this is currently being coordinated to maintain consistency and reliability as we scale. One of the key design goals is minimal user maintenance. The ZenH2 is engineered to be simple to operate without the ongoing upkeep typically associated with generators or liquid fuel-based systems. Regarding the water fill, yes! The intent is for a single water fill to support multiple cartridge cycles under normal use conditions, rather than requiring a refill with every cartridge replacement. We’re continuing to optimize efficiency and runtime as development progresses. Appreciate the thoughtful questions and the interest in the product. There is no hydrogen leakage with our method of transportation and storage. We have a proprietary powder mix, contained in a robust cartridge, that is the product that is shipped, in vacuum sealed packs. There is no pressure or gas in our cartridge. The hydrogen is only created within the ZenH2 and only when output demand is detected. The ZenH2 creates only sufficient hydrogen to meet the output demand for a few seconds, it is then consumed in creation of electricity, this process repeats over and over until the output demand stops. The ZenH2 does not store hydrogen. No greenhouse gases are created during the operation of the ZenH2. I know Portugal well having spent many happy days in the sunshine and eating delicious food. I also experienced the power outages! Your questions, 1. Yes, the EFG only uses a cartridge when delivering electricity, so no cost when not in use. However, as the EFG is portable the use case goes far beyond just a UPS backup for blackouts. The convenience of the EFG means that you will find many uses, taking to the beach for recreational use or for work it means constant power for operating devices with no access to grid power. 2. Solar is a wonderful product and has a place in the market, as does battery, we are all trying to reach a cleaner type of electricity. However, for those people or businesses that need the security and comfort of electricity being available exactly when you need it, for as long as you need it, then the only answer, that fits all energy demand, is the EFG. EFG works anywhere, at anytime, regardless of weather or time of day. People living in apartments, or lacking full physical movement, can’t use solar. People with medical device needs have to have reliable power that doesn’t run out because the battery is not charged. So the EFG market is huge and diverse. The other point to mention for our battery competitors, we charge batteries! So if you already have a limited by time battery, rather than buying bigger and more powerful batteries, all you really need is an EFG to charge your battery when grid power is not available.","author_name":"Mark Collins","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-05-08T17:59:56Z"}]},{"id":307557,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:307557","question":"Hi Mark, Your tech is great. Our goal is to create solutions that are far more accessible, modular, and easy to deploy. While our current product is intentionally focused on a smaller, flexible form factor, we absolutely see demand for larger-capacity systems that can support broader home backup applications. Longer term, we envision expandable and modular power solutions that integrate with existing home battery setups and potentially support critical circuits or larger portions of a home. Methanol-to-hydrogen is an interesting area, and any advance that lowers the cost of hydrogen production is worth watching. That said, methanol is not a new pathway to hydrogen; it has been explored for many years and comes with its own tradeoffs, especially for consumer use. Methanol is toxic, flammable, and typically requires a reforming system plus gas clean-up before the hydrogen is suitable for fuel-cell use. It also introduces a different fuel-handling and logistics model than the one we are building around ZenH2. For those reasons, we do not see this changing EFG’s current roadmap. We will always pay attention to meaningful advances in hydrogen, but at this stage we view it as a different pathway rather than a direct substitute for ZenH2. On fuel supply, yes, we have supply planning in place with multiple potential sources, and securing continuity of supply at repeatable prices is a key part of our commercialization strategy. The short answer: a single ZenH2 unit is not designed to power an entire home with high-load appliances like central AC or full electric heating. The system operates in the ~1.6 kW continuous output range, so large loads—particularly those with high surge requirements like your 3-ton AC—are beyond the scope of a single portable unit.Where ZenH2 excels is in keeping the essentials running continuously and safely, especially during outages. Based on your example, that would include: refrigerator, lighting, communications (Wi-Fi, phones, laptops, TV), medical devices, small appliances. These are typically the most critical loads during a blackout, and importantly, ZenH2 can run indoors, silently, and without emissions, which is a key advantage over gas generators. On your broader question about scaling: Yes, the EFG technology over the next couple of years will increase in power and become inherently modular. Multiple units can be deployed in parallel to increase total available power. For the time being whole-home backup—including HVAC — typically require a larger, installed system, which is currently a different category than portable backup. In practical terms, homeowners can pair the ZenH2 with smart load management—prioritizing essential circuits during outages rather than trying to run the entire home at once. We’re focused on delivering reliable, continuous power where it matters most, especially for indoor-safe backup and resilience.
