## Story
In 2016, three best friends put their savings together to start a company to help connect underrepresented people via their smartphones. Our savings ran out and we pitched to our Uncles and Aunties, and they believed in us and helped us bootstrap our first MVP. Original Co-Founders Emmanuel, Chuka, and Onuwa (and Emmanuel's Little Girl Maya)Our augmented founding team including Onuwa, Joanna (on of the world's best UI/UX Designers), and ChukaMcKinsey changed the game!“Companies in the top quartile for racial and ethnic diversity are 35% more likely to have financial returns above industry medians.” – McKinsey, 2015For the first time, a lot of companies began to take diversity more seriously and this opened the door for us. We launched our website shortly after research like this proliferated the tech industry. Open sesame! In 2017 we decided to open the platform to all folks that consider themselves marginalized as opposed to just people of color, and this was a great decision because it has given us so many different perspectives. Our CustomersIn 2018, Warner Bros. decided to become our first customer, and we were elated! WB has always been a company that valued diversity, so to see them put their money and time where their mouth was was so fulfilling. Then Amplitude, and Unity Technologies, and STARZ, and other tech companies joined the platform and helped us realize we were really on to something. Our customers as of July 2019Our TractionSince our recent launch, we've seen over 7,000 users added to our network and over 3,000 jobs added to the platform. We also have a perfect 5-star rating in both app stores and our pitch was the winner of the Founder Gym cohort 7 pitch competition mainly due to the strength of our product and the company vision. We are aiming for 10000 active users this year and 100,000 by late next year. Now we're on track to becoming the largest underrepresented professional network in the world! With thousands of users and jobs and counting we are just getting started and would love for you to join us in this mission. This is how we intend to use the funds we raise via WeFunder: 60% towards our engineering and recruiting teams, 20% towards full-timing our UI/UX Interns, 12.5% towards marketing, legal, and tools costs, and 7.5% towards Wefunder. Thanks for choosing us! Enjoy a good dose of our team 😃- Our team in Madrid, Spain (above) and at our WeWork office in San Francisco (below)- Our Engineering offsite in Sacramento last California (June 2019)

## FAQ
1. **How many interns do you have? What sorts of projects/assignments do your interns work on?**
 - Hi Kevin! We currently have about 7 interns and they are are working on User Interface, User Research, User Experience Design, and Backend and Frontend Engineering. All our interns either have the opportunity to convert to full-time employees or garner solid experience to be able to take into the real world. Some of our interns have received offers from Facebook and Google, and considering that we were the first company they worked at, it speaks to our emphasis on vocation...
2. **What date is the fund raising campaign deadline?**
 - Hi Burton. Thanks for asking. The campaign is going through the end of next month. We've been adding new customers quite frequently and will soon be profitable and bootstrapped so now is definitely a good time to join the campaign 😃
3. **is there a document that i have to sign and if so who do i return it too?**
 - Hi Cedric; not at all. WeFunder handles all of it on your behalf. Thank you for supporting our mission.
4. **How does your team plan on attracting qualified candidates to use the platform?**
 - Hi Andrew. Fantastic question. We attract qualified candidates through a combination of tactics including hosting affinity groups on our platform, actively reaching out to them on job boards and via other communities, and through search engine optimization and app store optimization.
5. **On your posted financials, you say there was no revenue from Apr-Dec 2018, but you also said Warner Bros was a client. If you have customers, how can there be $0 revenue?**
 - Hi Tre; great question; we started bringing in revenue in the year of 2019. Our focus in 2018 was in piloting our platform and this year we began to focus on monetizing our services. We have diversity hiring contracts with our customers such that they either pay to use our platform or pay for talent we source for them. I hope this answers the question.

## Q&A
- Q: I viewed your facebook I see you have about 5000 friends on facebook. I see many great testimonials from some friends ,but why do you think more people haven't supported your campaign? Also what is your plan is if you don't reach your 50k goal?
 - A: Hi Khaaliq. I am positive we will reach the goal. Currently chatting with offline investors who didn’t know about WeFunder prior. As far as support or lack there of I definitely feel we’ve gotten a lot of support and that we’re early in the journey (it’s a long one given nuances of scaling tech-driven marketplaces but it will pay off). Thanks for believing in us and for supporting diverse business.
- Q: Hello Chuka, I have a burning question. Considering the closing of SVB, will Diverisy.io be impacted?
 - A: Hi Keith; great question. Although we banked with SVB, we're one of the many companies to have moved our funds entirely to a different bank since they have been shut down. So we should be good. I hope they rebound. They were the best.
- Q: There have been no updates since April 21, 2020. Is it August? (four months). Why is Divercity.io on mute? As an investor, I would like to know if my investment was the right choice.
 - A: Hi Keith; good to hear from you. We are definitely not on mute; a lot of blood and sweat and hard work happening as we speak; we'll be posting our quarterly update very shortly please stay tuned.
- Q: Hello Chuka, Just checking in for update on the progress of Diversity.io? It's been quite lately. Can you please let us know how the company is doing. Have you faced any hurdles since ending your campaign on Wefunder and is the funding you raised sufficient? Also, how has COVID-19 affected the growth of the company if at all? Thanks.
 - A: Hi Keith; just wanted to say thanks so much for the support! We will be updating all our investors at least once a quarter, so please look forward to our updates. The team is working hard for you.
- Q: Chuka Ikokwu, can you please education me on what is the minimum goal for Diversity.io? Thanks
 - A: Hi Keith. Sorry, to clarify, the minimum goal for our raise is $50K. I am told we are at $49.5K or so. The WeFunder platform does not display how much a company has in Escrow. It just shows the amount that has been committed (which in our case is $51.2K).
- Q: Interested in the idea of the platform, and I agree that diversity of workforce has been growing in awareness to companies, at least in the tech world. I have one major concern though. The biggest thing you have going versus your competition is the diversity angle, and having a community for companies to directly tap into is powerful. That said, what stops all the big players (Angel.co, LinkedIn, etc.) from creating a segment within their platforms that encompasses your niche? They have all the tech in place to handle scale and many other things and would only have to setup the community aspect, whereas you guys are starting from nothing. I really like the idea, so I'm interested to know how you see this looming threat.
 - A: Kevin this is a great point and is a question we address pretty frequently from investors. My answer is simply 'specialization'. LinkedIn has actually tried in the past, but their DEI-encompassing efforts failed because it came off as insincere and opportunist, not to mention it wasn't their core specialty. I know LN well and trust their efforts, but they didn't build their platform with the goal of solving DEI hiring, nor did Angel.co; we did, and our team has literally been built around this; in any case, the traction that we're seeing from companies that want to use our platform as well as the excitement we're seeing in the communities tells us that we're meeting a need that currently isn't being met. We also have highly competent engineering and recruiting teams that are constantly conjuring creative ways for us to scale our efforts. I think you and I know that the startups that win aren't the ones that wait to get eaten up by the big players but the ones that, because of their relentless conviction and resilience, proactively get big enough to get notice by and then get wood by the big players :-). I hope you can join the fold and support us brother. We all go up together for sure, as it takes a village.
- Q: I would like to invest, but I have one question: What was your revenue in 2019?
 - A: Hi Eric. Thanks so much for your interest! We only just began monetizing at the end of 2019 and thus made roughly $30K in placement revenues. We plan to go full throttle this year and to continue to build our tech. Thanks for believing in us and here's to continuing to make progress and to push.
