Connect Without "The Cloud"

## Elevator pitch
"The cloud" is just someone else's computer. When you use centralized cloud services like iCloud, Gmail, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Facebook, or hundreds of others, you gain the convenience of storing data on someone else's computer, but you make some huge tradeoffs in return. Daplie provides a platform for people to have the convenience of the cloud without giving up privacy and ownership of their data. At Daplie, we believe the Internet was made for people, not people for the Internet.

## FAQ
1. **Do you see a market in the small to medium size business community?**
   - George, simply put, yes we do see a market there. We have spoken with many accountants who need private cloud storage for maintaining 7 years of client taxes not on public servers, lawyers who need to maintain private and confidential data from people they represent for case work, marketing agencies who want the ability to share work with clients from their own domain name (URL), technology startups who don't want to lose trade secrets to big tech companies, etc, etc. There are so many more a...
2. **What's to prevent someone from hacking into your personal server?**
   - Evan, Security is #1. We are security first. Here is a list of security practices that we implement: As a general rule, if there are two ways of doing something and one is mostly secure with a few caveats and the other is always secure, we block the "mostly" secure method and only allow the one which is always secure. HTTP always redirects to HTTPS (excepting HTTPS setup and ACME challenges) All assets are served statically except for API resources We construct API queries from JSON, so no SQ...
3. **Would users have to pay a domain registration fee, and what price range are you considering for purchasing one of these?**
   - Charles, a yearly domain fee is a part of your server maintaining autonomy from any company, including Daplie. However, for device owners that choose not to have a URL of their own (as they may not want to pay the yearly fee), we do have the option for owners to use their "NAME.daplie.me" domain name at little to no cost ($1/year). We prefer, however, that owners maintain their own domain name, but also understand that not all owners will see the benefit. For the other domain names, our domai...
4. **Can we visit a user website demo (e.g. thejoneses.com)? User websites can be tested and demoed before hardware availability, right?**
   - Carl, part of the BETA software rollout will include extensive user experience testing and feedback. When the BETA software is available, those investors who have invested $250 or more will have exclusive access to give feedback in this process. However, for the developers out there who are reading this, we do have our github public repositories that one may try out some of the different software components. Check that out here: https://github.com/daplie Thanks for your question! Let me know ...
5. **Just so I understand, I really just hosting my own small server, correct?**
   - Samuel, to simplify (which is always our goal) the answer is YES. What makes Cloud by Daplie truly special is that ALL of the Internet architecture required is built in and we have automated as much as absolutely possible so that all the owner needs to do is plug in ethernet and power, then choose a domain name. The device then does the rest. Sure, servers have been around since the beginning of the internet, but we believe that with the convenience of Cloud the market is ready for the next h...

## Q&A
- Q: 1) Please let me know what has changed to increase the valuation from last round (wefunder) pre-money valuation of $5 million to current round pre-money valuation of $18.6 million 2) After last raise in wefunder, any VC invested in daplie and at what valuation?
  - A: Hi Kishore, 1) we have created a high-level list of factors taken into account when reaching the current valuation amount. It can be found near the bottom of the "Interview" section above. 2) We have brought in multiple private placements since the last round but not through a traditional VC round. Stock has been issued at an $11 million valuation and at the current valuation prior to this campaign.
- Q: Have we been fleeced. I invested a lot of money and no communications. We should do a class action suite. I am getting a lawyer and will inform you.
- Q: Any updates ?
- Q: What is preventing a major cloud player (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, etc.) from creating a 1-click instance/service that does exactly what Daplie does?... plus have it backed by on-demand, pay-as-you-go, readily available customer service, and featuring the reliability and scale of their networks?
  - A: Matthew, two main reasons. (1) If a customer's data is hosted on the servers of a company, that company is liable for that data and must put a licensing agreement in place to mitigate risk. Here is a snippet from the Google Terms of Service, for example, "When you upload, submit, store, send or receive content to or through our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works, communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content." (2) The five largest companies (by market cap) in the world aren't oil companies like they were even 5 years ago. The 5 largest, (Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook) are all data acquisition companies. Hoarding trillions of data points about "users." It truly has become a gold rush. We aim to take that data back. To literally put the "I" back in Internet. To Take Back the Internet (from the Internet Kings) and redeem our collective digital souls. If not now, when? The difference between us and them: We are on a mission to democratize the web. Simply, they would have to build a physical device and cannibalize their existing business model. Thanks for your question. Truly, great question. I hope this clearly answers why we do not see them currently as a threat. But, we would be naïve to not recognize billion dollar companies and endless budgets to crush our small band of rebels. But in the words of Jyn Erso from the New Star Wars movie: Rogue One, "We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope." :) Matthew this is a movement, and our customers are the hope for a better future. One where my children can own their digital life, not Google. Not Facebook. Join us. Take back the Internet.
- Q: Any updates ?
- Q: You were acquired by clear foundation, i havent seen any updates provided by you and how will it shape my investement?
- Q: check out https://www.clear.co.com/leadership Bryson Hill is CMO
  - A: Sorry, just seeing these questions. Yes, Bryson is a contractor for Clear.
- Q: Is it true that you fired your founder during the most recent (now cancelled) WeFunder campaign? https://dapliefounder.com
- Q: Hi folks, will you open antoher fundraising campaign soon?
- Q: What do we do, now that Wefunder returned our investment, if we want to re-invest?
  - A: Be on the lookout for an email from invest@daplie.com next week that will address future potential options for investment.
- Q: Seems my investment was cancelled.. "Cancelation Reason: Around the time of the closing of the offering, we were informed of the resignation of a member of Daplie’s Board of Directors. We believe this constitutes a material change to the Company and information which would be material to the investment decision of the investors. As a result of this information and the timing related to such event, we have elected to cancel their campaign and return all investment funds to the participants of this round." Will another round open or another way to invest?
  - A: Hi Michael, we will be sending out an email with potential options to invest. Keep an eye out for an update from invest@daplie.com this week.
- Q: Hi There, I just got a notice that my investment was cancelled due to a change in the board of directors. What can you tell us and will there be a revised opportunity to invest if we so choose? Thanks!
  - A: Hi Rachel, you should have received a brief message from Bryson giving a little more context, and we will be sending out more information soon. Other investment opportunities are currently being explored and we will reach out by email with further investment opportunities.
- Q: How do you plan to develop your app software interface for iOS? As you know, iCloud runs in the background and constantly uploads photos, contacts, etc. Will users of Daplie have as seamless of an experience as they would using the built-in iCloud services?
  - A: Hi James, we have had iOS in mind (as well as android) while building out the software, particularly photos and contacts. Like you, we think that having a smooth, simple experience and interaction with your content is paramount to the user experience.
- Q: I was wondering how the time timetable for working out the various perks of investing looks, and apropos, since the 500$ tier perk includes "Voucher for Buy one Cloud Server get one at no additional cost - Early access to the beta software of Clou", does this mean that those who are qualified for that tier will have their devices sent as part of the next shipment to beta-testers?
  - A: For those with a $500+ perk level, the best thing to do right now is to e-mail support@daplie.com letting us know you want to use it and we will make sure it is marked on your account. If you invested at $500 we will match up with your order made through Indiegogo. Only customers who signed up to Beta test the hardware will get their units in the Beta run. We will be opening up parts of the software before we ship products to you that you can test out. If you have purchased a unit and want to be a Beta tester of a device you can fill out this survey to be considered: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DaplieBeta
- Q: How will you compete with decentralized cloud storage company like https://storj.io/ ?
  - A: Hi Richard, storj.io only competes with one app in the Daplie Ecosystem (the Cloud Storage app). It does not compete with the fact that Daplie Cloud is an actual server and allows you to do things like run other apps, host websites, even be your own bitcoin wallet. Without getting too deep into the technical aspect, blockchain which storj.io is based on is still more centralized than a federated network of Daplie servers. We will be making a blog article describing the differences in more detail in the future.
