## Story
The founders met at MIT and have been friends for 10+ years. Lino and Will share immigrant stories. Both their families emigrated in the 80’s - Will’s from the Dominican Republic at the height of the revolution and Lino’s from Cuba escaping the dictatorship. Steve was raised in a small farming community where scrappiness was instilled into him. What unites the team is an ethos of perseverance, ingenuity and bootstrapping. For years, co-founders Will and Steve, were peers at MIT. They converged on the core technologies forming the basis of CoolChip from vastly different perspectives: Will in the context of automotive waste heat recovery and his doctoral research, and Steve in the context of HVAC and refrigeration systems. It was the motivation behind a DARPA solicitation (MACE 2008) that steered Will and Steve towards the opportunity to solve pain points in the IT and electronics cooling space. We believe Kinetic Cooling technology will usher in a new paradigm for forced-convection cooling; it will shatter the thermal brick wall, displacing decades-old technology.

## FAQ
1. **Can you talk a bit more about the specifics of the Cooler Master partnership? How will you guys make money, and what more needs to happen before you go into production?**
 - We are looking at both licensing and reselling revenue models. Revenues from our first product together will be through royalty payments. Before we get into production we have to go through a relatively standard battery of reliability and operational tests.
2. **Which investors are involved in this round and are any past investors doing follow-on investments?**
 - Hi Adam – We've got a great set of new investors for this round. No follow-on from previous investors was needed. Key investors in the current round include: - F50 (http://f50.io) - Walnut Angels (http://www.walnutventures.com) - ACE & Co (http://aceandcompany.com) - Semyon Dukach (Managing Director, Techstars Boston) - AngelList syndicate (including Brad Feld, Atlas Ventures and AngelList Syndicates) - Various angel investors
3. **Once you go into production, what are your goals for overall sales year over year? Outside of mircosofts xbox**
 - Great question. The next 12 months will focus on go-to-market. You can see where we are headed in slide 25 of the pitch deck. We are driving to sales of retail products and OEM design-wins. From there, it will be about scaling a validated model. Initial revenues will come from licensing of a low-profile, high-performance PC Gaming unit. Cooler Master and others will manufacture the parts and, currently, Cooler Master will be responsible for sales & distribution. We are working out those d...
4. **Outside of microsofts xbox, have you recieved any interest from the big PC and tablet makers regarding a possible partnership? Could you comment on your relationship with Sandia National Laboratories? Is the cool hip technology a collaboration with sandia or do you own the pat...**
 - Hi Dilraj – Yes, we have engagements with various large players (see slides 15 & 16 of pitch deck). Specifically for gaming, we are in discussions with Intel and Dell business units. The value proposition of Kinetic Cooling is very welcome. Regarding Sandia, we are an industry partner with the lab. We have a licensing agreement with Sandia’s Licensing and Technology Transfer group. In addition, our portfolio consists of 13+ patented & patent-pending technologies, growing rapidly YOY b...

 - Hi Morgan – Thank you for the questions. Beyond the tech, cost roadmap and patent portfolio growing rapidly YOY, three vectors sustain CoolChip’s long-term competitive advantage: (i) partnerships, (ii) know-how, and (iii) expert team. Slide 20 in the pitch book touches on this. Regarding production – for the time being Asia, mainly China. In addition, we have strategic relationships in the US for controlling key aspects of the process. Cheers, - Will

- Q: Hello, My name is miss laura, i saw your profile and it drew my attention to write to you. I would like you to communicate me through my e-mail address (sgt.lauraralph2@gmail.com) laura
- Q: how does one go about investing?
 - A: Hi Larry - please contact us at info@coolchip.io
- Q: Any progress updates?
- Q: Hello there! i am very excited about the kinetic cooler and i want to ask you something about your partnership with Microsoft regarding Xbox One cooling. Is kinetic cooler meant to replace existing Xbox One cooling solution, or it is meant for a future newer version of Xbox One? thanks in advance, i wish you all the best and i can't wait to see kinetic cooler on the market!
- Q: Can your product work at any attitude besides horizontal?
 - A: Hi Ken - Yes, this is an important point and our Kinetic Coolers are orientation independent. Thanks! - Will
- Q: The current device is certainly interesting and a welcome proposition for heat generating chips, that said I'd like to know more about the longer term competitive advantage of the firm. What prevents competitors from making similar innovations beyond patent protection? Also where is the production taking place, I'd like to know if you control the whole process or if there is a manufacturer in the works who may potentially link IP. My apologies if this is in the pitch book.

The current financing will get us into early-2016 and first commercial revenues. We will begin working on a 2nd (PC Gaming) SKU with Cooler Master towards the end of this year and plan to have 5 SKUs in market by 2017 and closer to 10 SKUs by 2018, including, for example, servers, graphics, gaming, and thin clients. That said, success in retail and our first products results in a large, fast-growing & profitable company which generates the kinds of financials shown in the pitch deck. Thanks for the question!
