CLIP immediately appealed to me as an Investor. Apart from the fact that I really liked Som and Clem and their team’s vision for how they want to scale CLIP going forward, as someone who deeply cares about the planet, I am a big believer that all of us have to do our part to preserve it and it’s not difficult to make a difference – just a few lifestyle changes are necessary. There is little debate then that one of the biggest contributors to CO2 emissions is transportation and driving heavy vehicles and cars, in turn, is a big part of that. If the world, therefore, has to limit its impact on climate change, we have to drive less. And what is the best alternative to driving? Riding two wheelers. However, not everyone can afford expensive motorcycles, scooters and even E-bikes. Step in – CLIP! It’s the cheapest and most effective solution to overall air pollution (470 kgs of CO2 per 1,000 miles vs. 20 kgs for a bike, and probably even lower for a CLIP device (especially with its game-changing UX and regenerative braking features) if you account for the added emissions associated with the manufacturing of each form factor) with less reliance on expensive mobility alternatives that rely on traditional fossil fuels. Plus, there are other added benefits – you don’t have to give up your conventional bike, you can arrive at work without being drenched in sweat, get where you want to faster and still preserve the health benefits of cycling (via its ride/pedal assist feature). CLIP’s technology and long-term vision represents a radical shift on how to scale clean yet affordable mobility not just in the developed world but more importantly in the developing world, which is where the largest gains for climate action will come from over the next 10 years. This is the reason why some of the brightest minds from my network (and me) are backing CLIP’s plug & play mobility tech.

The idea for CLIP began to form soon after I started bicycling to work regularly, as I experienced the visceral problem millions of bicycle owners across the world share that dissuades them from riding a bicycle to work. No one wants to arrive at work sweaty and exhausted. 🥵 and regular e-bikes are over-engineered to be too heavy and expensive.
