Good question and one that we often get asked. It's a common misconception that consumer grade smart thermostats for homes, such Nest or Ecobee, may be used in hotel installations. However, this is not the case due to the fact that hotels need enterprise-level energy controls, which are not offered in consumer homes, thus they are not appropriate for hotels. To give you additional perspective on why the CIRQ+ Smart Room Platform is a unique technology offering with the following facts: 2) In contrast to home environments, consumer thermostats play games with the temperature to learn your comfort thresholds- that would be unacceptable to guests in a hotel room attempting to achieve optimal comfort. CIRQ+ provides precision temperature controls at the guest fingertips through an app, voice or bedside where the guest does not have to get out of bed to change the temperature. 3) Consumer thermostats lack integration to very important hotel and Property Management Systems (PMS or POS) making it impossible to automate functions such as guest personalization, check-in/ checkout, Food \u0026amp; beverage services, room cleaning, and maintenance. The CIRQ system provides all these and more in a unified platform that can be installed in \u0026lt;60m or less with no downtime or lost revenue all connecting through our patented mesh network. 4) Consumer thermostats are made to handle a zone in a home and are not scalable for use in a large hotel properties. CIRQ+ manages each guests room independently as the guest leaves the rooms the unified Smart Room works in conjunction to power-off all lights and roll back temperatures reducing energy costs and lowering carbon emissions. 6) Location, location, location: Wall Smart thermostats of any kind are not ideal in a hotel room as they are typically placed in a breezeway to hotel room or corner Fan Coil unit that is not facing the beds in the living area. So, any internal occupancy sensor will not see the majority of the guest room and lead to miss sensing if a guest is present. Another point is that these other thermostats use PIR sensors that typically see motion and if someone is sleeping in bed, the thermostat is not facing the bed then it will never know a guest is in the room and inadvertently shut of the air conditioning or heat. CIRQ+ uses advance occupancy sensors that are bed side and pick up 220 degrees of the room. The Smart Hub is the thermostat bedside allowing the guest to access, change with ease and comfort without getting out of bed. 7) Compatibilities issues: This is a big one... Consumer thermostats may not be compatible with the various HVAC systems used in hotels, which would lead to compatibility issues and added expenses in upgrading or replacing HVAC systems. CIRQ+ has the ability to interface, control and manage PTAC’s, Fan Coil Units, Mini-splits, and even window air conditioners!
