Strengths
says, "Ability to engage broadly at minimal investment. Simplicity. Focus on national candidates. Original content and rubric for writing. "
says, "Novel engagement strategy for a younger demographic consuming content from new sources. Starting with federal officials makes a lot of sense, especially in an election year (though, in this environment, it’s worth considering high-visibility statewide like Governors for the same reason). Helping young voters get some skin in the game in terms of financial donations at the point when they feel emotionally invested. The immediacy is important. Compelling brand promise for people who want better. Being a part of that group working for better is attractive. "
Advice
says, "Financial sustainability metrics would be helpful. Maybe they had that. Emphasize and own Gross National Well Being. "
says, "Think about how difficult and/or expensive acquiring and retaining customers will be and use comps to anchor your projections. Becoming the ‘home’ for anything is not easy or cheap. Drill down on the business model, and evaluate alternative revenue strategies down the road (e.g. integrations, partnerships). Make the existing media landscape work for you. Ultimately, proving that aggregated microdonations will influence US elected officials is imperative because it’s part of the reason for customer engagement. We know they’re influenced by large donors and lobbyists, but those people also have access. How will ChangeRoots demonstrate its impact consistently to show value to customers? The vision of quantifying and/or personalizing the impacts of decisions by elected officials is very interesting because it makes things that seem irrelevant very personal. Post-partisanship is important because we presume it will yield better outcomes, but that’s still abstract to most of us. Individualizing it and making it real has power because ChangeRoots becomes the measurement standard with a data advantage."
