As seen on Shark Tank!","story":"Our raise has closed! Bunch fam, you are a POWERHOUSE. We're so grateful for your support, proud of what we've achieved together and excited to get to work - building the future of family biking! Hi, I’m Aaron, the founder of Bunch Bikes. You might remember me from Shark Tank as the middle school band teacher - turned cargo bike entrepreneur!After 8 years in business, Bunch Bikes is going strong. We're proud to serve thousands of families across the US and Canada with a family cargo bike that's reliable, roomy and versatile enough to replace most car trips. We're sustainable and profitable with an unbeatable reputation and a passionate community.So, what's next? Right now, I see a golden moment of opportunity for us to make some bold moves, grow our business and our mission - and lead the cargo bike boom that's coming.I'm inviting you to join me, own a piece of Bunch Bikes - and invest in the electric vehicle of the future. The ebike boom is here - and the cargo bike boom is coming.In Europe, \"mamafietsen\" (mom bikes) are everywhere. In the US, we see hotspots developing in New York City, Washington, DC, Santa Monica and more - with cargo bikes parked at every preschool, playground and pediatrician's office. In these neighborhoods, every parent understands \"why cargo bike\" and sales are fast and hot.Outside of those areas, 95% of our market is still totally untapped, not yet familiar with ebikes or the cargo bike concept. Like electric cars in the 2000s, electric cargo bikes are still fairly rare in the US and Canada but gathering momentum for the decade ahead.Our design is inspired by the classic Dutch bike, which I first experienced when I visited Sweden with my family back in 2016. (Read more in \"How it started\" below!)This \"front trike\" style is much easier to ride than a two-wheeled cargo bike - especially for less confident or less aggressive cyclists. It offers more cargo space for folks with bigger families, babies, adult passengers, and big dogs. Because it's stable on its own, it's also a great solution for passengers and primary riders with medical, adaptive or mobility needs.We are the clear category leader in a market sweet spot - with huge growth potential, and very little real competition.We're already changing lives for families across the United States and Canada. Over 8 years, we've fine-tuned our bikes and our ecosystem to make biking for transportation easier, safer, more reliable and more convenient than ever before.We're ready to make big moves, take the lead, scale our business and bring about a revolution in sustainable transportation.So let me take you on a journey—a journey that started with a simple desire to solve a problem for my family and evolved into a mission to normalize cargo biking in North America.How It StartedIn 2016, my wife and I were expecting our second child. I was a bike commuter and loved riding my daughter around on the back of my road bike, but I knew we would need a safer and more practical solution for our growing family.Fond memories taking bike rides with my daughter, before we had a Bunch Bike.That summer, we took a holiday trip to Sweden, where 3 wheeled box bikes were everywhere. We rented one and instantly fell in love with the Scandinavian cargo bike life.I told my wife, “We have to get one of these for our family.” But when we got back home to Texas, I realized these incredible vehicles were virtually impossible to find in the United States.I moonlighted in ecommerce and had already created and then sold off one successful business. That company made a nice profit for my family, but it wasn’t a passion for me. I knew that teaching wasn’t right for me for the long term, either. I was looking for the next opportunity, and at this moment, it all fell into place.I realized there had to be many other parents like me - eager for a more active lifestyle, and searching for something safe, reliable and easy for the whole family.Cargo biking was a huge untapped market. It was also a chance to make the world a better place.I cashed in my chips, found a manufacturing partner overseas and received the first Bunch Bike prototype in 2017 - five days before my son was born.My son’s first Bunch Bike ride at 5 days old! He just turned 8 years old and has enjoyed a ride in a Bunch Bike nearly every day of his life.I knew immediately that I was on to something big. Every time I rode around the neighborhood, I had families stopping me to ask about the bike and take pictures.I started sharing about the bike on Instagram, launched our website (with my son strapped into the Ergo while I typed) and quickly sold our entire first batch of bikes on preorder, before the parts had even arrived stateside.I made my first hire – that’s Elliot, who’s still leading our product team now – and signed a lease on a warehouse. We also quickly got to work improving quality and reliability on our bikes. We transitioned to a premium manufacturing partner that we still use today - production costs were a lot higher, but consistency and quality were where we needed them to be and that was (and remains) the priority.Our new factory leverages cutting-edge automation and robotics to ensure excellent quality in every Bunch Bike we build.The \"Pandemic and Shark Tank\" EraMarch 2020 was a scary time for Bunch Bikes as for the rest of the country and the world. Our supply chain ground to a halt. At this time, the very first investors joined our company - my mom and my sister both invested some of their savings to help me cover payroll.My mom and I enjoying a Bunch Bike ride!The good news was that with families desperate to get outside together, bike sales quickly skyrocketed. Within a few weeks, we went from “Help us keep our doors open” to “We can’t keep enough inventory on the shelf!”This was when we made it onto Shark Tank.The audition process was intense - so was the 14 day solo quarantine in a 10x10 hotel room. But it was absolutely worth it. I closed a deal with Barbara Corcoran, who has been a wonderful and very supportive partner. Robert Herjavec ended up joining her investment - and he and Daymond John both got Bunch Bikes for their own families!Robert from Shark Tank enjoying a Bunch Bike ride with his family.Another huge benefit was raising awareness. Even five years later, we still hear from folks who learned about cargo bikes from a Shark Tank rerun or an update segment.Shark Tank was a fork in the road. After this point, it wasn’t just me and my family - I’m responsible to our stakeholders not only to keep taking great care of our customers, but to keep growing our business too.Growing PainsAt that time we were doubling sales every couple months. I hired a larger team, brought in a new product line, and rented a bigger space in anticipation of what looked like hockey stick growth to come. Toward late 2022, as the national bike frenzy faded, I had to admit we’d gotten a little too big for our britches.We scaled our team way back, streamlined our processes, tightened our focus – and make sure we were healthy, profitable and sustainable even if our sales stayed exactly the same. That was a very painful reckoning for our business, but it also helped us build a stronger foundation for steady, controlled growth.Future projections are not guaranteed.In 2025, frequent tariff changes are disrupting global trade for everyone in the ebike industry, and beyond. This time we anticipated the risk. Ahead of the 2024 election, I began working with our current manufacturing partners and visiting new potential partners worldwide to evaluate our options, diversify our supply chain and give us more flexibility long term.What's next?Last summer we launched the Bunch Bike 4+ model - the only UL-2849 certified family cargo trike in America. We supersized our braking system, upgraded our weight ratings and created a more sensitive, intuitive assist system. It’s our best bike yet, and families are loving it - but there’s still work to do.We're incredibly excited about our next generation bike, currently in development. Our 2026 model will be more powerful and more reliable than ever - designed to address the pain points that still exist for what we now know is our core customer base. We're building the best bike for families - who need a primary vehicle for everyday, practical transportation!We've got some patent pending products in the pipeline - including a revolutionary new baby transport system that's unlike anything currently on the market.Our customer base continues to grow, and so does our advocacy network. The Bunch Squad now numbers more than 300 active members who sign up to give test rides, answer questions, advocate for family biking, and even organize local events and bike buses.To date, almost all of our growth has been organic. We do very little advertising, relying largely on word of mouth. We'd like to invest more capital in digital marketing, reaching beyond our community to families that are brand new to the ebike and cargo bike market.This year we're also expanding beyond our roots in DTC (online sales) to add some retail and rental channels! We’re proud to announce an exclusive new partnership with Pedego Electric Bikes, the nation’s largest network of ebike shops. This expansion increases Bunch’s brand footprint to physical locations. An active, widespread rental network also makes it much easier and lower risk for families to experience the cargo bike life for themselves - after all, that’s how I fell in love with cargo bikes myself!We’re also testing partnerships with a wide range of other outlets that align well with our values and our vibe - including baby boutiques, cargo bike shops, and travel and vacation services.Our outreach goal is simple: to give as many families as possible that first, lifechanging experience of electric cargo bike joy.In 2017, few people had even heard of an e-bike. Within the industry, ebikes were often referred to as “cheating!” Today we see commuters around the country using ebikes to replace short car trips and experiencing the benefits to their health, their wallets, the environment and their peace of mind.While ebike awareness has grown, the majority of Americans still haven't had the opportunity to ride an ebike themselves - much less an electric cargo bike.The future I see for North America is one where family biking is common and celebrated. Where plenty of parents at every school decide to skip the car line and ride to school instead... take the cargo bike to the grocery store to stock up for the week... or go for a family joyride together in the fresh air.Bunch Bikes is ready to lead - and we're inviting you to join the ride!Why Invest in Bunch Bikes?We’re already profitable. After years of growth and reinvestment, we’ve hit profitable EBITDA and have been running a healthy, sustainable business since 2023 with a passionate community driving our movement forward.We’re expanding into hundreds of retail stores — unlocking national visibility and in-person access.We’re innovating fast. New product development is underway to deepen our leadership in family-focused biking.We’ve de-risked our supply chain. We've proactively built backup sourcing options beyond China to reduce tariff exposure and improve resilience.We’re riding a massive market shift. The e-bike market is projected to grow 2x over the next five years.This is a chance to invest in a business that’s proven, values-driven, and positioned to scale.Our mission isn’t just to sell bikes, it’s to redefine family transportation in the U.S.From my family to yours - thank you for investing in Bunch Bikes, and the future of sustainable transportation!Missed our final Q\u0026amp;A? Our three-wheeled design adds stability for most road conditions.That said, we also see many families who use the bike on nice days or for short trips, and drive a car the rest of the time. Switching even half of your total car trips to biking or walking brings a big improvement in mental and physical health - and saves money, too.A good-quality electric cargo bike is more expensive than a regular bike, but much more affordable than a second car. We see more and more families choosing a more active lifestyle by swapping that second car for a cargo bike! My management philosophy has been heavily influenced by Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia’s book “Let My People Go Surfing” as well as Lean principles as defined in The Toyota Way. 1. I believe in hiring great people and paying them well. Additionally, as a family-first company, our time off policy is generous and flexible, especially as it relates to the needs of parents. These are the right things to do, and lead to high employee retention and minimal losses of institutional knowledge over time. Our bike assembly and warehouse fulfillment team (the “direct costs”) has been unchanged for about 4 years, with most having been here 6 or 7 years. The same goes for our office staff (the “indirect costs”) 2. The Lean concept of Kaizen (continuous improvement) is infused in the DNA of our organization. We first look for ways to eliminate waste and inefficiencies in our work and processes, before thinking about hiring additional labor. This leads to a low-frustration work environment and is also a profitable way to operate the business.","author_name":"Aaron Powell","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-11-19T15:35:09Z"}]},{"id":314981,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:314981","question":"Thank you, Lelac and Aaron for the quick response! Investing in the SAFE is essentially placing a bet that Bunch Bikes will continue to grow - and will be worth more in 5 years than it is today. Our plan is to grow the business 3x (or more!) during that time, through product development, new retail and rental partnerships and new marketing channels. In about 5 years, we anticipate an exit event in which the entire SPV is bought out by a bigger investor or an acquisition. At that time your SAFE will convert into equity shares, at a % based on the current valuation - so if we have grown 3x, your equity grows 3x as well. Of course, it's impossible to predict the future - we could grow faster or slower than anticipated. If we don't grow, your investment doesn't appreciate. A SAFE does offer some downside protection but if you're looking for a sure thing on a fixed timeline - a different investment may be a better fit!","author_name":"Aaron Powell","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-07-09T23:27:01Z"}]},{"id":310798,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:310798","question":"Are retail opportunities for Bunch Bikes primarily focused on in-store sales, or are there also partnerships that involve renting the bikes? Vacation rentals are a lower barrier to entry, and they help families fall in love with the cargo bike life. We don't share detailed COGS publicly but I'm glad to outline a little of how we think about costs and pricing. Our strategy is to prioritize quality vs. lowest price. We use UL certified electric systems as well as upgraded non-electric components (all-steel frame, top-tier brakes) in order to ensure our bikes are safe and reliable for everyday transportation under heavy load - with our most precious cargo! These days tariffs also add a significant % to our costs, but we will be able to reduce this impact in 2026. We run a slightly lower margin than most US bike companies because we know that there is already some \"sticker shock\" for US families that are new to the cargo bike world and we want to keep our bikes as accessible as possible. We've kept our team lean, our budgets cautious and our marketing mostly organic as a result. As we scale, and as our movement grows, we'll be able to reduce our COGS as well as seeing families grow more confident investing in a cargo bike as an affordable alternative to a second car.","author_name":"Aaron Powell","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-08-11T14:37:44Z"}]},{"id":311749,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:311749","question":"Aaron, Great work! On the competitive side, as the cargo bike market continues to grow, how do you view your long-term moat? We're intentionally choosing community investment to stay aligned with our customers, our values and our priorities! If that's still a good fit for your fund, read on. Supply chain: I don't want to go too deep into supply chain as I consider it a competitive advantage but would be glad to discuss one on one - shoot us an email at ceo@bunchbike.com. Diversifying our supply chain to reduce tariff exposure is one of our major goals for 2026 and for this round of investment. Competition: We're fortunate to be in a real market sweet spot. The front-loading cargo trike is a game changer for the users who need it, and in the US, 95% of those users don't yet know it exists. Yet it's also a small enough niche that it's not so appealing to the Trek or Specialized size brands - they are more likely to venture into the 2-wheeled cargo bike space, where as we've seen several times, they often lack the deep understanding of the user base to create a truly appealing product that can compete with established cargo brands like Urban Arrow. In our 3 wheeled space, there is currently very little real competition - we've seen some \"flash in the pan\" and then exit the market. Our major unfair advantage here is that we have an 8 year head start in dominating this market. With 8 years of customer feedback, design tuning, accessory development, name recognition, loyal fans, marketing data and more - we are hard to beat! 2 wheels vs. 3: What we've found is that in most cases we aren't competing with 2 wheeled brands but complementing them. We are serving a different customer with a different need - a larger family, babies or adult passengers, a family member with adaptive needs or just a desire for a less aggressive ride style. On a local level, we love offering side by side test rides of our bikes and other formats because the right \"fit\" quickly becomes clear. At scale, as cargo bike awareness and adoption grows, so too does interest in a more stable, user-friendly option.","author_name":"Aaron Powell","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-07-18T20:30:24Z"}]},{"id":311325,"entity_id":"wefunder:comment:311325","question":"What do you plan to do with the R\u0026amp;D budget portion of the funds you raise? We use best in class components (brakes, gears, pedals, batteries, etc.) that are not currently manufactured in the US. We'd love to see more domestic component manufacture in the future, but for now, trying to reinvent the wheel (or, for example, the Tektro braking system) isn't a profitable pathway for us. We do expect to see some cost efficiencies through diversifying our supply chain as we scale, but we're also planning some significant feature improvements on future models - our target market is customers who are using the cargo bike as their primary vehicle, so reducing the price point is less of a priority for us than continually improving reliability, quality and ease of use. Our current flagship model, the Bunch Bike 4+, uses a 500w motor and 48v battery. That's plenty for 85% of our users to get uphill with confidence - we aren't here for speed racing! That said, on the 2026 model we do plan to introduce more power and torque with an upgraded drivetrain and battery for the 15% of users who need to climb very steep hills under heavy load. Not ready to share detailed specs yet, we're still in development but this is high on our list of pain points being addressed to keep striving toward our goal - a true and reliable car replacement for families across the country.","author_name":"Aaron Powell","votes":0,"created_at":"2025-07-10T15:24:29Z"}]}],"faq":[{"question":"Are retail opportunities for Bunch Bikes primarily focused on in-store sales, or are there also partnerships that involve renting the bikes? Rental locations are key to our strategy and we are prioritizing partnership with experienced rental providers - especially in vacation and tourism destinations. We're working toward a future in which it's easy to rent a cargo bike anywhere you travel with your kids or dogs! Rental is profitable in itself - and also an outstanding long term sales strategy. Vacation rentals are a lower barrier to entry, and they help families fall in love with the cargo bike life. Investing in the SAFE is essentially placing a bet that Bunch Bikes will continue to grow - and will be worth more in 5 years than it is today. Our plan is to grow the business 3x (or more!) during that time, through product development, new retail and rental partnerships and new marketing channels. In about 5 years, we anticipate an exit event in which the entire SPV is bought out by a bigger investor or an acquisition. At that time your SAFE will convert into equity ..."},{"question":"What additional information can you provide about the technical details for the battery and motor/gearing powering the Bunch? Can you me an idea how much they would cost? I would like one myself but price is important","answer":"We agree, Velara - pricing is an incredibly important factor! At this point in our journey, we are largely serving families who use the bike as a primary vehicle; they're viewing the cargo bike as a much more affordable alternative to a second car, rather than an expensive bicycle. There are definitely cheaper bike options out there - but at Bunch Bikes, we are prioritizing a safe, powerful family vehicle that's reliable enough for everyday commuting. That's the market sweet spot where we pla..."},{"question":"Hi Aaron, This is an exciting opportunity! Is there a draft SAFE that potential investors can see? I’m familiar with the template doc but am curious if there’s a draft floating around.","answer":"Hi Lauren, you can find detailed documentation and financials by clicking on DETAILS tab under our video! You can also read more about the terms of the offer by clicking \"Learn more about SAFEs\" under the INVEST button. I see that you were able to find these later on, but I'm still glad you asked the question - if you were wondering, others might wonder the same!"}]}}}
