Why Not?

How did Anteel Tequila come to be?

As long-time tequila enthusiasts, we wanted to pursue something we loved, something we were proud of, and something that brought us joy. When co-founder Nayana Ferguson asked her husband Don, "If you could do anything in life, what would it be?" Don quickly replied, "Own a tequila brand, but there's no way we can do that." Nayana responded, "Why not?"—and from that moment, our lives completely changed.

Agave Fields at Casa Maestri

Within two days, Nayana found the perfect distillery, Casa Maestri, the most awarded distillery in Mexico. Today, Anteel Tequila is the most awarded brand produced by Casa Maestri. Since 2019, Anteel Tequila has won 117 awards and accolades from accredited spirits competitions worldwide.

When we launched Anteel in 2018, we aimed to revolutionize the industry. Co-founder Nayana Ferguson, an 19-year pancreatic cancer survivor, 12-year breast cancer survivor, and pre-diabetic, inspired our vision. We introduced the world's only Coconut Lime Blanco Tequila, infused with all-natural flavors from coconut meat and limes, to appeal even to those who weren't tequila fans. Anteel CLB is now our most awarded, most talked about, and best-selling expression.

Blood Orange Blanco

Given the success of Coconut Lime Blanco, we introduced another flavored expression for National Tequila Day on July 24th, 2021. Infused with all-natural flavorings from Sicilian-grown Tarocco blood oranges, it made a significant impact, solidifying our reputation as innovators in the agave industry.

Along the way, we achieved some amazing milestones. Nayana became the first Black woman to own and lead a tequila brand. We won over 100 awards and accolades and expanded distribution into additional states.

Nayana's story garnered significant attention, leading to appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Cheddar News, Fox Soul, Forbes, Essence, and Yahoo News. The Smithsonian Institution created a Wikipedia page for her, and she became a National Advocate for PanCAN, sharing her journey of overcoming cancer twice in a national media campaign.

Media Attention

Magazine covers, TV shows, news programs, podcasts, magazine articles, and blog posts have featured Nayana's story and the brand. Since its launch, Anteel Tequila and the founders have been mentioned in over 100 media outlets.

Awards

Anteel Tequila stands as one of the most awarded emerging brands in the agave industry. Since 2019, Anteel Tequila has won 125 awards and accolades from accredited spirits competitions worldwide, including multiple Innovation Awards, Consumer Choice Awards, and Platinum, Double Gold, Gold, and Silver medals.
