## FAQ
1. **How does this compare to valaciclovir? My understanding was that this existing treatment could get rid of cold sores within 1-2 days for most people.**
   - Michael, thanks for your question and your interest in NextLeap. From our research, the best answer to your question comes from the package insert for Valtrex (brand name for valaciclovir), which you can find online under Highlights of Prescribing Information Valtrex in accessdata.fda.gov. Section 14.1 discusses the clinical studies using Valtrex against cold sores. It states: "Subjects self-initiated therapy at the earliest symptoms and prior to any signs of a cold sore.” The results: "The m...
2. **What was your revenue for 2023, 2023 profit / loss (unaudited is understood), how long is your current runway, and what do you anticipate will be needed to hit profitability? Thank you!**
   - Hello Jason, thanks for reaching out. At the end of 2023 we were burning about $6k per month and had a runway of approx 18 months at that rate. Plans are to hit profitability in approximately 9 months.
3. **Could you explain the differences between your product and your competitors? Also, what happens if you go out of business?**
   - Thank you for the question Charles. We are approaching an outbreak in a new way by helping to minimize the disruption to a person’s appearance during an outbreak. And we do it with a clear and odorless gel. Other products can act as temporary pain relievers, cosmetic cover-ups or attempt to speed up healing but there is a gap where a cold sore sufferer has to deal with the physical and by extension the emotional impact of an outbreak on their self confidence and social plans. ## Q&A
- Q: Could you explain the differences between your product and your competitors? Also, what happens if you go out of business?
  - A: Thank you for the question Charles. NEXTLEAP is designed to help fill that gap. Regarding going out of business, I would direct you to the information available to you on the WeFunder site. Thanks again

- Q: How does this compare to valaciclovir? My understanding was that this existing treatment could get rid of cold sores within 1-2 days for most people.
  - A: Michael, thanks for your question and your interest in NextLeap. It states: "Subjects self-initiated therapy at the earliest symptoms and prior to any signs of a cold sore.” The results: "The mean duration of cold sore episodes was about 1 day shorter in treated subjects as compared with placebo.” The usual duration of a cold sore is 5 days or longer. So the “mean” effect was to reduce the outbreak to about 4 days. In other words, for some people valaciclovir got rid of the cold sore in 1-2 days, but for many or most it took 4 days or longer. Thus many people notice no significant help. The clinical studies on the other major cold sore treatments is similar. And these results are consistent with the surveys we conducted with over 4,000 cold sore sufferers, in which 85% of people said they don’t get much relief from the major cold sore treatments and they wish there was something better. In contrast, our feedback from NextLeap users is that they return to normal appearance in 1-2 days if they begin use at the earliest symptoms (first tingle). However, it is important to note that valaciclovir is a prescription antiviral treatment. NextLeap is a cosmetic product. Its key ingredient is Tranexamic Acid (TA), which was created for a different purpose but it was discovered by chance that TA improves skin discoloration of various types. Thus it has been used for over 40 years in cosmetic products for this purpose. We optimized a proprietary TA formula to additionally address the cosmetic issues associated with cold sores. Everyone’s body is different, and it is possible that some people don’t experience the 1-2 day result from NextLeap. But we believe that will be the result for the vast majority of people if they start use at first tingle and they will become happy (and relieved!) customers for life.
